You can export the details of your categories to a CSV (comma separated values) file. You might want to do this to edit category details as a batch job in a spreadsheet, rather than one by one online. You can then import the updated CSV file to update your online catalog.
To export a list of categories
- On the Categories form, click the Category CSV Export option. The Export Categories form appears. This includes a table with the content of the CSV file.
- Click and drag the mouse to select the content you want to transfer to a spreadsheet.
- Paste the content into the spreadsheet such as Microsoft Excel using the Paste Special option.
- Select Text to see the categories. If you want the data split into spreadsheet columns, click the Text to Columns option on the Data menu of Excel.
Make changes you want. Be sure you retain the format of the data and keep information in the right order, otherwise the data may not import correctly.
Note: with the list of categories shown on the Export Categories form, you can click the name of a category to view or edit the details of that category record.
