Managing taxonomies

A default taxonomy of General is provided and cannot e deleted. You can add new taxonomies with content categories and you can add content categories to the General taxonomy.

Some taxonomies are shown as 'STATIC'. You can't edit those that belong to third-parties such as UNSPSC (maintained by the United Nations Development Programme). If you created the taxonomy yourself and marked it as static, it can't be edited by other parties, but you can still edit the taxonomy details yourself.

To add a new taxonomy

  1. On the Product Details menu, click Taxonomies. The Manage Taxonomies form appears.
  2. On the Manage Taxonomies form, click Add new Vocabulary. The Add Vocabulary form appears.
  3. Complete the details shown in the table below.
  4. Click Add Vocabulary.


These fields are required *

Name * Type the name of the vocabulary. 
Description Type a description of the vocabulary. 
Version Enter a version, such as a date.
Publisher Type the name of the publisher of the vocabulary.
Publisher's Source URL Enter the URL of the publisher that represents the source of the vocabulary..
Enabled? Set this option to make the vocabulary active. If you clear this option, the vocabulary will remain in the database but not be visible in the online store.

Language

Choose the language applicable to the vocabulary from the drop-down list.
