Setting up product promotions

To create a new promotion for the first time

  1. From the Product Details menu, click Promotions. The Promotions form appears.
  2. Click Add Promotion.
  3. Complete the fields described in the table below.
  4. Click Add Promotion or Add Promotion then Modify. you'll need to use the modify option to complete additional details.

To add or amend promotion attributes

  1. From the Product Details menu, click Promotions. The Promotions form appears.
  2. Click the name of the promotion you want to edit.
  3. To add a new condition, click Add condition. The Add Promotion Condition form appears. To edit existing conditions, click the name of the condition. The Modify Promotion Condition form will appear.
  4. To add a new benefit, click Add benefit. The Add Promotion Benefit form appears. To edit existing benefits, click the name of the benefit. The Modify Promotion Benefit form will appear.
  5. Complete the fields described in the table below.
  6. Click Add the Condition/Benefit or Add the Condition/Benefit, then another buttons for new conditions or benefits.
  7. If you are amending an existing record, click the Modify the Condition/Benefit or Modify the Condition/Benefit then Return Here buttons.
  8. Complete details of any promotion vouchers that apply and click Add.

These fields are required *

Name * Type a name for the feature. For example, 'Buy 1 get 1 free', 'Introductory discount' and so on. 
Enabled? With this option set, the promotion is visible and available in the product catalog. If you want to hide the promotion from the catalog, clear the option.
Priority Choose the priority for the promotion. You can use this to control which promotions are offered first.
Currency Choose the currency specific to the feature.
Brand Choose the brand specific to the feature. 

Promotion conditions

Condition Name * Type a name for the condition that helps explain it. For example, 'Check for first order'. 
 Condition Type

Choose the type of condition from the drop-down list. This will be one of the following:

  • Buying this Item
  • Buying from Category
  • Buying from Manufacturer
  • Customer Account Code
  • Customer Order Count
  • Number of Items Ordered
  • Number of Orders for this Promotion
  • Order Date (yyyy-mm-dd)
  • Order Goods Total
  • Day of Week (Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun)
  • Invoice Country
  • Delivery Country
  • Shipping Service
Condition Operand

Choose the operand that determines the action taken with the condition type. This will be one of the following:

  • = Equals
  • > Greater Than
  • >= Greater Than or Equal To
  • < Less Than
  • <= Less Than or Equal To
  • <> Not Equal To
Conditional Value

Type the value that is to be used with the operand and buying type. For example, 'Customer Order Count' '=Equals' '0', where '0' is the conditional value that suggests this is a first order.  

Applies to a specific Item or Category

You can make a promotion specific to an item, category or manufacturer. Set the option you want, or select 'Not applicable for this Condition Type' if appropriate. For the specific promotions, choose the record from the drop-down list. You can also specify a Purchase Product Quantity.

Promotion benefits

Benefit Name  * Type a name for the benefit that helps explain it. For example, 'Free shipping'. 
Benefit Type

Choose the type of benefit from the drop-down list. This will be one of the following:

  • Reduce Order Goods Total (after other discounts)
  • Reduce Order Goods Total (no other discounts)
  • Reduce Item Price (after other discounts)
  • Reduce Item Price (no other discounts)
  • Free Shipping for Order
  • Free Item (one per order)
Benefit Amount

You can choose whether the benefit is a fixed amount or a percentage. In either case, enter the value or percentage that applies. 

Applies to a specific Item or Category

You can make a promotion specific to an item, category or manufacturer. Set the option you want, or select 'Not applicable for this Benefit Type' if appropriate. For the specific promotions, choose the record from the drop-down list. You can also specify a Benefit Product Quantity.

Benefit Unit Size (Required Purchase Quantity

Enter the number of units that attracts the benefit. The benefit will be applied for each multiple of this quantity. For example, if you're offering a discount for buying 10 of the same item, then the benefit will be applied for thresholds of 10, 20, 30 and so on.  

 Promotion vouchers

Voucher Code Enter the code that applies to the voucher. The promotion will only apply if the customer enters a matching voucher code. 
Multi Use  Set this option if the voucher can be used more than once.
